Al Roker is preparing for a monumental Father’s Day.

While chatting with the other Today dads at Lucali restaurant in Brooklyn on Friday, June 14, Roker shared what he’s most looking forward to about the special holiday.
“The best part of Father’s Day this year is that I’m a grandfather,” Roker said, prompting his co-hosts to clap for him and raise their glasses in a toast.

After clinking drinks, Carson Daly exclaimed, “I went and visited Al in the hospital not that long ago, so to hear that really warms my heart.”
Roker explained that he never understood his friends’ obsessions with their grandchildren, and then, “This kid hits, and it’s like ‘Oh my God.’”
What’s the difference between raising grandchildren versus raising his own three kids? “It’s pure joy,” he shared. “There’s no responsibility, other than you want them to be safe and happy. I don’t have to teach her anything.”
Craig Melvin then reminds Roker that, “Next Father’s Day, you and her are going to be having full-on conversations.”
“It’s all babble, but it’s like she’s talking. This is me in five years anyway. she and I will be speaking the same language,” Roker joked.
Roker shares Courtney with his ex-wife Alice Bell, and his younger two children with Deborah Roberts.
He recently celebrated Mother’s Day with son Nicholas and wife Deborah, posting a sweet carousel of photos on his Instagram. Roker documented his family’s Mother’s Day, which included church, brunch and a concert.
“A full #mothersday that started in church, then brunch at @cafebouludny followed by the magnificent #kathleenbattle in concert at @metopera and then I made #duckbreast for #mothersdaydinner,” Roker wrote in his caption.
