Born in Tikrapo in 1933, Lina Medina became the youngest mother in history, defying medical conventions. Lina was raised in an eight-sibling household and enjoyed an ordinary upbringing until her parents became concerned about the noticeable growth in her tummy.
When Lina and her father visited a clinic in Pisco to seek medical attention, Dr. Gerardo Losada made the startling revelation that Lina, just five years old, was seven months pregnant. An additional test revealed that, unusual for someone Lina’s age, her reproductive organs were fully developed.
Medical officials chose to intensively monitor Lina instead of terminating her pregnancy despite the contradicting facts.
